| Unfortunate is a short film I made for my Video Storytelling
class. This was our final project. I used iMovie to edit this film. It stars
Vanessa Slicker, with a cameo of me as the delivery guy. Although this was
a short film, it took many hours to edit. To add to the frustration, I only
had two weeks to entirely do this project because this was a six week summer
course. The first few weeks of the course were spent learning iMovie and
learning about nonlinear editing and filming/production. It was a hefty
task; but it was a lot of fun. This film was inspired by a fortune from a fortune cookie I got at dinner one night. I was ready to open my cookie and I said out loud, “This better be good!” I said this because many of the fortunes from these cookies are kind of lame. Sometimes they are not even fortunes; they are just common sense advice. So, when I opened the cookie, there was my usual lame fortune. But on the other side that says “Learn Chinese” it had the word “good” (I don’t remember the actual Chinese word). Literally, it was good. Now, this may not seem like something spectacular (and it really isn’t), but it sparked the idea for this film. The idea changed from a psychological thriller, to a kind of cheesy suspense flick with a twist at the end. I enjoyed making it however; and I may someday write and shoot the original idea for a feature film. |
